Future Plans
Discussions are continuing regarding the future development of Little Bickington Farm. These include a positive meeting with planners from Government Office South West, Devon County Council and Torridge District Council. As soon as revised plans have been drawn up they will be exhibited in the village.
Little Bickington Farm
Following discussions with the County Council's land agent the CPT will be renewing its lease of the land, buildings and farmhouse at Little Bickington next year.
Community Woodland
The planning application for access improvements to Quarry Wood was registered by Torridge on 9th October. To avoid any misunderstanding it might be worth spelling out the details of what is proposed. We are aiming to make entry to the wood easier, by providing smaller gates that can be more easily opened, and in particular by providing a gate at the bottom corner of the wood where there used to be a gate years ago. We intend also to put up an information board and - with funding from the Village Millennium Committee - to install a picnic table and seating in the open space at the top of the wood.
Contrary to rumours that have been in circulation there is absolutely no intention of closing or gating any roads! One of the planning requirements was that we had to show on the plans where people arriving by car could park without blocking the lanes. With the agreement of the Chairman and Secretary of the Playing Field Association, the playing field was designated for this. This explains why the planning notice was posted there as well as at the community woodland and why the two areas are shown on the plan joined by a single red line. We hope that most people will continue to walk from the village to the wood - access will be much easier when the lower gate is put in. In the meantime please use one of the field gates on Quarries Lane.
