August Update

Funding

We received welcome news recently regarding future funding of the CPT and Project. The regional representative of the Lloyds TSB Foundation has informed us that the Trustees have approved our application for a contribution towards our 'core costs' - salary and office running expenses - and we expect to receive confirmation of this in early August. This means that it will be possible to continue to employ our Project Coordinator, David Venner, on a part time basis.

Office Hours

David has been working part time since the beginning of July. The CPT office will generally be manned from Wednesday to Friday each week until further notice. Phone messages, emails and post will be picked up and dealt with as soon as possible. Urgent matters can be directed to David Brown or any of the directors as before.

Community Woodland

Following advice received from Torridge District Council an application is to be made for planning consent for improvements to community access to Quarry Wood. It is proposed that bridle gates will be installed that will allow riders and walkers to enter the wood, with the main field gate locked for access by maintenance vehicles only. It is hoped that a picnic bench and an information board can also be provided.

The recent hot weather has brought out a variety of butterflies and moths, including the not-so-common Comma butterfly, seen by the Quarry Road hedge.

Any questions, comments etc about the proposals can be directed to the Project Coordinator/Administrator or any of the Directors of the CPT via the Project office: The Meeting Point, North Road, High Bickington. Telephone 01769 560161 or email david.venner@highbickington.org
