If a positive planning decision is received from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, we may, within the next month or so, need to agree the release of some of these funds to move the project forward. Our LEADER+ ‘core funding' came to an end at the end of March which means that the Project's day by day finances are currently in a somewhat precarious position. We have made an application for further funding from the Lloyds TSB Foundation and the remaining funds from our Tudor Trust grant will hopefully keep us going until the outcome of the grant application is known.
Planning Inquiry
As previously reported, we expect to hear an announcement of the decision by 11 th May at the latest although, at the time of writing, we are still awaiting final acceptance of the draft Section 106 Agreement from Torridge District Council.
Little Bickington Farm
The land and one of the barns have been let to Stan Parker for a further 12 months and the tenancy of the farmhouse continues as before.
Re-decoration of the exterior paintwork of the farmhouse is to be undertaken within the next few weeks following appointment of a local contractor. The cost of this work is being shared between Devon County Council and the CPT.
The hedge bank between the garden and Policeman's Field has been made up by Roy Brown and is now ready for the turfing course to be held on 13 th May.
Visits
On 25 March David Brown and David Venner hosted a visit by 20 people from mid Wales, organised by Land for People, an organisation which is encouraging the formation of community land trusts in Wales. On 28 March three Buckland Brewer residents came to hear about our Public Inquiry experiences. They have had a similar - but developer-led - scheme called in.
Finally, a reminder that anyone with any questions, comments etc about the Little Bickington Farm proposals can contact the Project Coordinator/ Administrator or any of the directors of the CPT via the project office – see contact details below.
