Community Property Trust
The Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday 7th July at 7.30pm at Little Bickington Farm (not at Umberleigh Village Hall as previously announced). We hope for a fine evening and intend to provide a barbecue and liquid refreshments. If the weather is too wet/windy for meeting in an open-ended barn we will adjourn to the Church Hall. The meeting is open to all - only the voting will be limited to shareholders. Forms for nominating new directors have been made available to shareholders. Membership currently stands at 163.
Section 106 funds
We have now received and banked the following funds received from Torridge District Council under the terms of the Section 106 Agreement on the Fountain Fields site.
£100,000 due to High Bickington Parish Council as a contribution to a new Village/Community Hall at High Bickington; and £200,000 which was "to be held by Torridge District Council until made available to the High Bickington 2000 Project as a contribution towards the implementation of the High Bickington Village Plan and the High Bickington Project 2000".
Directors of the CPT are currently sourcing the most advantageous interest bearing accounts and in the meantime the money is held in the CPT's existing 14 day deposit account at an interest rate of 3.18%.
As soon as a new account can be set up with a higher interest rate, and subject to the endorsement of the Parish Council, it is intended to place £275,000 on 3 months' notice leaving the remaining £25,000 more readily available to fund design and exploration works needed to provide additional information for the Planning Inquiry.
Community Woodland
As reported in Ramblings, the CPT and the primary school both received prizes at the Barnstaple and District Civic Society's annual conservation awards evening last month.
A group of children has planted an oak tree donated to the school in recognition of their involvement in the Woodland Trust's Tree for All campaign. The trees generally seem to have taken well and maintenance work is now in full swing as the grass and weeds have grown to the height of the trees! However the paths are mowed regularly for those who wish to enter the field to enjoy the views and the wildlife.
Any questions, comments etc about the proposals for Little Bickington Farm can be directed to the Project Coordinator/ Administrator or any of the Directors of the CPT via the project office: High Bickington CPT Ltd, The Meeting Point, North Road, High Bickington
