Community Woodland
Birds seen in or over the woodland field since the beginning of the year include: fieldfare, redwing, buzzard, kestrel, robin, chaffinch, goldfinch, blue tit, great tit, blackbird, song thrush, hedge sparrow, starling, yellow hammer, swallow, rook and crow. Among the flowers that have appeared are snowdrop, wild daffodil, primrose, lesser celandine, red campion, greater stitchwort, red deadnettle, common dog violet, blackthorn, gorse, hazel and, in the Quarry Road hedge, wood sorrel and wild arum.
Small tortoiseshell butterflies and seven-spot ladybirds have also been seen. The paths have been mown and there's a seat in the top corner nearest the playing field, so do come into the field and enjoy nature and the views!
Education and Community Facilities
Discussions are continuing between the CPT, the primary school and the County Council to prepare a design brief for the proposed school and community buildings. This work is taking longer that we'd hoped - as soon as we have news a further progress report will appear.
Sport and Recreation
It is proposed that a feasibility study - similar to the one prepared last autumn for the Workspace proposals - should be prepared in partnership with the PFA and sports clubs. This will look at what sports are available in the parish and surrounding area, what we would all like to see developed in the future, how much this is likely to cost and how we go about obtaining grants. If this interests you in any way do get in touch.
