Report to Parish Council by David Venner, Wednesday 9th February 2005

Outline Planning Application

This matter will have been covered already at the start of the meeting.

Community Property Trust

Membership of the CPT continues to grow, with 148 shareholders having joined and further applications still coming in. The Rules of the CPT are to be put on the website. For those members who prefer to read a paper copy, this will be available on loan from the office.

A Development Appraisal and Financial Plan - a major piece of work which sets out how the whole project will be funded - has recently been completed. This will be used in the coming months to support applications for grants and loans.

Work of the Committees of the CPT

The Community Woodland Committee, with much volunteer assistance, has completed planting for this season. We were delighted with the response and were particularly pleased to see so many children joining in.

There is to be a Maintenance Day on Saturday 19th March, from 9.30am, meeting in the top corner of the field. All are welcome.

Education and Community aspects of the project are to be discussed again in a forthcoming meeting with Devon County Council Architects and Education Department personnel, to reach agreement on the location and design of these facilities.

Affordable Housing is very much on the agenda nationally as well as locally.
Further coverage on the BBC's Politics Show highlighted the need for affordable housing for key workers. At a forthcoming conference at Taunton the CPT will be featured in a workshop which will emphasise the community-led approach to identifying and meeting needs.

The Sport and Recreation Committee has not met recently but will be reconstituted when the plans for these aspects of the project need to be taken forward.
