Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting
Wednesday 14 April 2004 in the Meeting Point, High Bickington at 7.30pm

Present: Peter Tucker (Chairman), David Brown, Stella Burrows, Jean Checksfield, Roger Keen, Mike Leatham, Stan Parker and Myc Riggulsford

In attendance: Mr John Rawlinson - County Councillor, Mrs Di Carter - Clerk and 11 members of the public

The Chairman welcomed John Rawlinson to the meeting.

Government Minister Visits High Bickington

The ambitious future development plans, drawn up by residents of High Bickington, received a further boost on Thursday 18th March with a visit to the village by Alun Michael MP, Minister for Rural Affairs and Local Environmental Quality.

High Bickington Project 2000 and Parish Plans

Outline Planning Application: We understand that Torridge District Council's Plans Committee is to consider the outline Planning application on Monday 29th March 2004. If approved by that Committee then the application will be re-advertised and referred to Government Office for the South West for a decision to be made on whether the application should be 'called in' by the Secretary of State for determination as a departure from the provisions of the District Plan.

Latest News - 14 January 2003

The development of the overall Project continues to move forward with a great deal of both voluntary and professional inputs being required. Architectural staff members at Devon County Council are working on the 'Master Plan' for the Little Bickington site and we are still on course to be able to further consult the wider community on this in late February or early March. Alongside this much detailed and very technical work is being undertaken to ensure the successful implementation of the eventual building programme and beyond.

Latest News - 15 December 2003

Outline Planning Application: The outline Planning Application for land and buildings at Little Bickington Farm, the land to the right of the entrance lane to the farm and the proposed access arrangements on the main road out of the village were formally submitted to Torridge District Council on Friday 14th November 2003. It is understood, subject to confirmation, that the Plans Committee may consider the application on Monday 19th January 2004.
